Update: Existential Bullshit 12/12/11

I'm making some headway.

I've been working on this record since 2006...Old demos surfaced during the Myspace era. Songs like "The Plastic Folks" and "When I'm A Maggot" were some of my primitive recordings. Nothing fancy, singing out of key. The idea was there though. None of that material is on this record.

The attitude is the same, just more refined. The audio quality is still shit. Familiarity.  Out of some twenty-odd songs only eight made it to this phase.  It's strange how one can grow out of their own material.

Mixing has been a pain in the ass, especially with the god awful recording setup I've got. There's hissing, popping, and all that stuff audiophiles loathe. But it's raw. It's real. Everything single bum-note and awkward vocal phrase is ME. It's genuine. And that's all I've ever had going for me I suppose.

But who the hell am I?

I'm a white kid from the burbs. I grew up in a trailer park and am, to the best of my knowledge, the only musically-inclined member of my immediate family. I've played with bands at all the venues the "in" kids have played at. I've suffered through Paycheck's Lounge. I've seen teenagers mosh to "Faultline". I've shared the stage with some of the most talented and kind-hearted people I've ever met.

My music resume includes the bands DEAD LETTERS, FACTORY GIRLS, and currently SUPERBOMB. But does that matter? You tell me. I have no idea. There are dozens of people in this scene who have no idea who I am...and that's something I've struggled with over the years. How do you make an impact as a musician?  Especially as a solo musician...

Especially in Detroit...

I suppose that takes hard work, time, and dedication.

Anyway, four of the songs are done. The others are close.

EP03 (No Place To Call Home)

The_Pages was born after I'd departed from Detroit-based rock n' roll group DEAD LETTERS sometime in the fall of 2007.  For a number of reasons I can't recall, I was feeling limited musically.  So The_Pages was born as a necessary outlet for my ego.  Strings, electronic drumkits, Bass with flange, glitches: all these things and more.  I'd sight U.N.K.L.E. and Nine Inch Nails as direct influences at the time.

The first EP was Alex & Autumn: Music For The Film.  There never was a film.  The concept was derived from a brutal relationship I'd had a few years prior and served as shovel that buried that shit.  It was released in April 2008.

Humility In Blindness followed in December 2008.  A five track EP with no concept, it was more like a collection of songs I'd finished that I wanted to put out.  The mixing is rough and the flow is jagged, not really creating any kind of a sonic world.

After Humility, The_Pages began hibernation.  Musically, I focused on recording a solo acoustic record during 2009.  When I realized I couldn't sing, that fell by the wayside as well.  In the fall of 2009, I joined Greg Aubry and Roy Tousignant to play in what I believe was the third or fourth incarnation of their band ANALOG LIGHTS.  The project lasted about three months and some nifty basement recordings came out of it, but that too met it's demise.

Now it's nearly April 2011, three years since the first release, Alex & Autumn.  My newest record, EP03 (No Place To Call Home), is finished.  An eight track album, nearly all tracks were born over two years ago.  But the mixing has improved.  This record also marks the first time live vocals have been incorporated: Rains On Me, a Tom Waits cover featuring my roommate Ian James Pinchback on vocals.

The record is a revival of sorts, given that music hasn't been a part of my creative mind for over a year now.  Currently, only physical copies are available and I'm charging $3 for one.  The previous two records were free, and rightfully so, but I'm expanding and trying different strategies.  A online-only digital release may happen in the future, this summer perhaps, but for now I've got these nifty, hand-crafted cases for you.

And in case you're wondering: there's more coming.  Another 3 records are in the vault.  All incomplete, but I'm breaking new ground with these ones.

foot fetish

So, foot fetishes.  You know what I’m talking about so there’s no point in explaining it.  I’m not gonna say anything negative, because:
1.       There’s really nothing wrong with it, and
2.       I don’t want any trolls harassing me.
If you want some background info, just type “foot fetish” in Wikipedia.  Yes, I know this is not a reliable source of information, but I’d wager you’ve learned more from this site than you ever learned in high school.  We’re dealing with half-truths either way, kids.  Think about it.  Not too hard though.  Ok, moving on.
Podophilia: that’s the word.  Remember it for future discussions at the coffee shop.
During my fifteen minutes of research (five minutes shy of my goal) I came across an interesting article.  It’s a few years old but you ought to have a look anyway.
Continuing,
Anyone that’s taken a journey through the wondrous world of internet pornography knows that there’s a little something for everyone, not unlike the magazine section at your local drugstore or supermart.  Amateur, anal, anime, Asian, group sex, threesomes, teens, glory hole, black on white, shemales, grandmas, etc.  Feet are there too.  Somewhere between golden showers and scat.  What’s interesting is that there are amateur sites dedicated to feet.
Husbands asking the world if their wives have sexy feet:
A step-by-step guide to getting sexy feet:

For the hip kids, this guy was doing it before it was cool:

There are even sites dedicated to the feet of celebrities.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve probably wasted a few hours (lie) of life surfing the internet looking for naughty pictures of an assorted list of actresses, but never once did I think to look at their feet.
If you have, hell, I’m not holding it against you.  I’ve got my own list of bad habits.  I like pretty faces, moderately plump behinds, curvaceous hips, etc.
Random thought: How do feet fetishists feel about kankles?
I’m sure they’re looking forward to summer just as much as I am.  I’ll be looking at jean skirts; they’ll be looking at flip-flops.  It’s all good.

Wanna fuck me?
